Halogen-free / low-halogen test
Following the industry standard for circuit boards IEC61249-2-21 stipulates the requirements of halogen-free circuit boards, well-known electronic and electrical manufacturing companies such as DELL have issued regulations to control the halogen content in their products within a certain range. This will become an industry trend, forcing manufacturers to gradually use halogen-free flame retardants.
Halogen includes fluorine (F), chlorine (Cl), bromine (Br), iodine (I), astatine (At) five, including astatine (At) for synthetic radioactive substances, the current common halogen test generally refers to the first four.
The following table is a summary of some of the standard halogen requirements:
chemical element | IEC 61249-2-21 | JPCA-ES-01-1999 | Samsung | Dell |
F | / | / | / | / |
Cl | ≤900ppm | ≤900ppm | ≤900ppm | ≤1000ppm |
Br | ≤900ppm | ≤900ppm | ≤900ppm | ≤1000ppm |
I | / | / | / | / |
Total Halogen | ≤1500ppm | / | / | / |
